Report from the Front. January 23rd 2018:
Last night’s foray went quite well. In no time at all, my persuasion troops had managed to move across the land of ‘no man’ and right up to the seat where my wife was sitting. She was unaware of my silent intent and so allowed me to show her a rather tasteful property near Valencia.
Before long, we were discussing the intricacies, the practicalities, and the realities of a possible move. I think she sussed my true intent and mounted a little regard action that sent my persuaders running back across the land where ‘no man’ dwells; then back to me.
I lost nobody of significance; only my self-esteme (still hunkered down in one of the many craters that mark the progress of my previous attempts).
News has if that there are plans for a full frontal assault around the spring with a major supermarket chain sending in thousands of extras to film the day that combatants from both sides exchanged presents. It sounds like a good idea, but I am not so sure. My ego is wounded and my determination is flagging.
I pray to the Almighty that this thing will end…Just a small villa (with pool) at a knock -down price.
Some Success At Last:
We seem to have broken through. The boys were out last night, scouting around for weakness. The truth is that we have found very few and that has had a dispiriting effect upon our continued campaign. Nevertheless, our work continues and it would appear that there is a small chink that we may be able to exploit.
The wife was lamenting the fact that she feels taken for granted. The daughters had delayed their buying of her Christmas present until they found something that she really wanted (may as well wait until next Christmas for that breakthrough). However, this was just the opportunity I needed. I decided to act before the moment had cooled.
A quick foray to Tesco. Purchasing of a wonderful bunch of nearly fresh flowers(she hates extravagance), a top-class bottle of bubbly, and “hey presto” we had the breakthrough. A smell of the not yet dead scent of flowers, a couple of glasses of fizz, and she was checking Rightmove-Spain for almost an hour.
It is to early in the offensive to claim any type of victory, but I do believe that we have made a breakthrough.
Let us pray for a happy outcome.
The wife has arisen from sleep and seems to be quite perky. I noticed that she was reading another chapter of the book I bought her as a joke Christmas present (Fifty Shades Darker). I do hope that she is not planning any of her counter-advances.
